Get More Opens Using This One Weird Email Marketing Hack

Most people think better email marketing to promote your online business means simply writing MORE email marketing blasts to your email newsletter subscribers.
***BUZZER INCORRECT NOISE***
Because sometimes the cleanest win is this:
Resend the same email marketing blast to non-openers, then “flip the angle” in the subject line.
*GASP…WAIT HOLD UP, wait a minute…what, what, WHAT?
That’s right, I said send the same dang email blast out (wait a day or two, and you’ll see why in a moment)…
Only this time, “make the subject line slightly better.” I’m talking new frame, new doorway, same message.
This is “grown-a$$ adult who pays their bills” email marketing because it respects two truths:
- People are busy.
- Attention is earned, not assumed.
The Cold Hard Truth: Why people don’t open your email marketing blasts (and why it’s definitely NOT personal)
When someone doesn’t open your email, it’s usually not because they “hate email blasts/newsletters/weekly digests/any marketing piece you email to a subscribers list who opted in to hearing from you on relevant items of interest via email” or simply because they “hate you.”
It’s really because:
- they saw it at the wrong time,
- their inbox is a war zone,
- your subject line didn’t feel relevant in that moment,
- or it didn’t hit them with enough stakes to win the tap in.
They didn’t reject your message forever.
They just didn’t bite on that frame.
Make sense?
Great, because it’s about to get weird all up in here (in a good way…keep reading).
The weird email marketing hack in one sentence:
Send your email blast normally; then resend it to non-openers only with a subject line that reframes the exact same message, but from a different angle.
Same content. New doorway.
That’s it.
The mistake most people make with resends of email marketing blasts
Most resends are basically:
- “Bumping this…”
- “Just circling back…”
- “In case you missed it…”
Now don’t get it twisted, sometimes that can actually work. But so could washing your car with a toothbrush or walking to a place that you typically drive to because it’s over 50+ miles away via the highway.
I mean…both do-able. But recommended? No.
Plus…that whole “Just checking in” thing… can we agree it’s soft serve.
You’re better than that. You are a profitable online business owner, correct?
No soft serve for you. Just a cold hard lump of ice cold savagery with your email marketing wizardry to promote your online business and maximize profits while helping people solve a problem with your solution…right?
If the first subject line didn’t win, saying “hey look again” isn’t the power move, primo.
The power move is repositioning.
A Step-By-Step Guide to “The Angle Flip” method to increase email marketing blast opens
(broken down into simple, easy to follow steps that are so simple your dumbest relative could do it)
Step 1: Send Email blast #1
Whatever it is, be it a tip, a story, email newsletter, a promo, an announcement.
It’s some sort of mass email communication to your subscriber list for your online business just like I showed you how to set up in the free Entrepreneur 101 Bootcamp (part of the Online Business Owner Starter Pack bundle that includes a free Advertising Tips eBook).
Step 2: Wait 12–48 hours
Let the first wave of opens and adoration from your adoring subscribers happen.
Step 3: Resend to those “deadbeat” non-openers only
Most email marketing platforms, such as GetResponse (Affiliate link: I may earn a commission from this link at no additional cost to you.) my favorite effective digital marketing solution) let you target “did not open.”
Step 4: Flip the angle in the subject line
This is the whole cheat code.
You are not rewriting the email blast.
You’re simply changing what the subject line emphasizes.
Because the subject line isn’t a description—it’s a hook.
Three angle flips of email blast subject lines that work in almost any online business niche
1) The “Pain / Stakes are High” angle
Make the cost obvious.
- “This might be costing you money”
- “You’re losing results here”
- “Most people don’t notice this until it’s too late”
2) The “Benefit / Positive Outcome” angle
Make the reward feel simple and immediate.
- “One small change that helps a lot”
- “A quick win you can use today”
- “Do this once and it compounds”
3) Identity / Mindset angle
Make it personal. Make it real.
- “If you’ve been stuck, read this”
- “Stop doing this to yourself”
- “This is why you keep starting and stopping”
Same email. Different doorway.
Different doorway = different moment.
Different moment = more opens.More opens = more clicks.
More clicks = more sales.
More sales = more profit for your online business.
And putting some of that hard earned profit back into your pocket is the goal…isn’t it?
A clean example (format-agnostic)
Let’s say for example your email blast teaches one principle: Consistency beats intensity.
Your first subject might be benefit-based:
“The simplest way to make progress this week”
Your resend flips to a subject that is more identity/mindset based:
“Why you keep falling off (and how to stop)”
Or your first subject is pain-based:
“The mistake that kills your momentum”
But your resend flips to the subject angle to a benefit:
“A 2-minute fix that makes everything easier”
See? Same message but with a NEW frame to capture more opens and get more traction out of your email blast you worked hard to create.
And that’s a good thing, would you agree?
Do it like a pro (deliverability guardrails)
If you’re going to knock twice, do it with respect (so you don’t get too many SPAM reportings and get your email blacklisted so you get ZERO clicks…nobody wants that, correct?)
- Resend only to non-openers (not your whole list)
- If your platform allows it, exclude people who already clicked
- Don’t abuse it—one resend is plenty
- Keep your list clean (hard bounces shouldn’t hang around)
Final thought (handle your business)
People open emails in real life…but on their terms. This could be between meetings, between errands…you get the idea.
And that’s OK.
Your job is to earn the open and then deliver value fast.
The Angle Flip Resend email marketing hack I showed you above with examples helps you catch someone in a different moment of their day…without writing a whole new email marketing blast.
Feel free to print out this blog post and read it again to really get the meaning behind it and then take action implementing it as an effective digital marketing solution for your own profitable online business.
You can keep “emailing more,” or you can start positioning better.
And once you see it work, you’ll wonder why you ever did it the hard way.
