8 Simple Tips for Setting Powerful Goals You Can Achieve Fast the idea hunters net james k kim

In order to set powerful goals that are achievable, you must first take some time to research your vision and see if they are doable.

It is true that you want to challenge yourself.

However you also do not want to make the goals so hard that you experience only failure time and time again.

That’s why if you want to ensure maximum success, make sure your goals meet the following 8 simple criteria for success:

Align your goal with your core values

The more your goal aligns with one of the four main areas of life (Family, Finances, Physical Wellbeing, and Personal Life), the more likely you are to set a realistic and achievable goal. Make sense?

On the flipside…

If a goal does not fit into one of your core values, then it is not likely you will experience much success since you will probably spend more time dancing around it and making excuses than actually doing any work.

Be in control 100% of the time

If goals rely on others to do their part, then they are not necessarily wrong, but obviously will be harder to achieve.

Any goal that you control 100% of the time is a goal that you can reach.

It is also important that you are not letting fear or blame to stand in your way. Self-limiting beliefs can get in your way on this one.

You should be realistic about whether you have control or not (and give yourself credit!)

For example, if you believe you do not have control over your financial future because that’s “just how things have always been”, then you are sadly mistaken and need to completely eliminate this line of thinking if you are serious about achieving your goal.

See your goal in your mind’s eye

Imagine being taken to a dark room where you cannot see a thing, and being told to find the light switch.

If you cannot see the end result or even have a point of reference (a map or visual cue where the light switch is located), then it will be very difficult to find the light (and move forward toward achieving your goal.)

If you need to make a vision board, draw an image you can see in your mind, or simply take a day to visualize your big dreams and see how they all fit together in the big picture of your life, then do it.

You need to see the end, or at least a reference point, feel the emotions it brings, and then you will be able to truly achieve it (or better).

Be specific with your goal

Every goal you make must be very specific.

That’s because if you are serious about reaching the goal, you have to know when you reached it.

Instead of stating something general like “I want to start a business,” state exactly what type of business you want to start, who you want serve as your clients, and other specific and relevant information that further crystalizes the goal and makes it more concrete and real.

Have a goal that is measurable

When will you know that you have achieved your goal?

If you cannot give a real number or at least some measurable data point in time, then unfortunately you don’t have a goal, it’s just a fantasy.

Let’s use the business example.

You can say you want to earn X amount of dollars each week by a certain date.

Then you can formulate how and why you are going to do it using this measurable goal to drive your daily actions and winning mindset.

Have a goal that is actionable

Every goal has steps required to get there. It’s like using a GPS navigation system to reach a destination that you want to go to on vacation.

You need to draw a map leading to your vision of success with the steps and paths will take along the way. Remember to include not just the “what” but also the “when” and “how” you will complete each step.

Have a goal that is realistic (if you put in the work!)

You do not want to write a goal that is too hard to achieve or worse, impossible.

Be sure that it is in fact scientifically possible to do it by researching everything realistically.

For example, it is highly unlikely you will start a business today and earn six figures by tomorrow (or even in your first year in business).

Look at the research and determine what achievable then take the necessary steps to achieve it.

Have a timeframe for your goal

Every goal has to have a time limit. Otherwise you may never achieve it.

Start with the end and work your way back to today, and create the list of things to do each day to finally reach the end result.

However, remember to also set a time limit.

You can adjust as you get into the project if it works to be more realistic. Resist the urge to change the time because you are not sticking to your task lists.

If you use this method to create powerful and achievable goals, you will find you will not experience as much failure because you can always adjust your timeline and your goals as you learn more.

The important thing is to give each goal a lot of thought, consideration and study before setting out to achieve them.
